For some real excitement, catch a flight to australia and then to Tasmania for some birding on Bruny Island, and enjoy a little wine while you are there.

Rio Grande Bird Festival
November 9-13.
A little closer to home is perhaps the grandaddy of of all birding festivals, the Rio Grande Birding Festival in far south Texas.  If you are intersted in seeing lots of great birds, this is the place.  And the weather in the Texas valley is usually very nice this time of year.
