Bird Feeding Tips
Tips on attracting and feeding backyard birds.
Where to place your feeder?
Visibility for you and your birds
One of your first decisions, and a very important one, is where to place your new feeder. To gain maximum satisfaction from bird feeding, you will want to enjoy your birds as part of your lifestyle. Consider where you sped the most time inside your home, perhaps at a breakfast table or desk, and try to place your feeder outside a nearby window.
Some feeders are designed to attach directly to windows. Others can be hung from short poles off windows or decks. Other feeders can be hung from trees or poles either near the house or away from it.
Before birds will begin using your feeder, they must see and recognize it as a food source. If there are lots of birds in your neighborhood and many people who already feed birds, this may happen very quickly. But if several weeks go by and the birds have not yet found your feeder, replace the seed and consider moving the feeder to a location more visible to your birds. Once they have adopted your feeder, you can move it back to the spot that provides maximum visibility and satisfaction for you.
