We receive several requests each day for help in identifying a certain bird. Most come with images from our namethatbird.com web site. Here are a few of our recent ID requests or shared photographs.
Melaine Heidelberger sent us these pictures of a nesting Killdeer. It seems Killdeers are not picky when it comes to nesting locations.

Ramona G. sent us this photo of the Jimmy Durante bird. Actually a House Finch with an atypical beak.

Nelson Keith sent us these pictures of a Brown-headed Cowbird. Photographed in Colorado. The brown head does not show up well in this photograph, an example of why it can be hard to identify birds from a photograph. Other all black birds in the area include Brewer's Blackbird, Common Grackle and Great-tailed Grackle. All have light eyes. Grackles much larger tail, and all three have different bill shape.
The female cowbird is very plain in appearance and is hard to identify for many.
